Humanist Wedding Ceremony

 

As a registered solemniser and an accredited Humanist Celebrant with the Humanist Association of Ireland I am well qualified to facilitate a secular ceremony which is personal to you.

As a couple you will have an opportunity to publicly declare your love for one another and your aspirations for your future life together. This commitment is made among friends and family in a meaningful and significant ceremony.

I will work with you to create a ceremony that is personal and unique to you. Once the booking is confirmed I will share with you a full draft of your ceremony and a selection of readings that you may wish to use in your ceremony or to take inspiration from. You are also free, of course, to choose your own selection of readings and music which can be incorporated into your ceremony.

Typically a Humanist Wedding Ceremony will include the following elements;

❤ Arrival of the bride
❤ Introduction and welcoming of guests
❤ Some words on the significance of marriage
❤ Wedding vows
❤ Exchange of rings
❤ A symbolic gesture such as lighting a candle
❤ Closing words and exit down the aisle of the couple.
❤ Interspersed with these elements are readings (by family/friends) and music, either live or recorded

Your Humanist Wedding Ceremony will be an event to remember and cherish, as it is completely yours and will express what you want to say and how you say it.

Please note that it is legally required in Ireland to give THREE MONTHS notice of intention to marry to any Registry office.

This applies to ALL couples, even those getting married as part of a religious ceremony.

There are documents required such birth certificate and PPS numbers.

You will be given an MRF form by the Registrar in your local office. This is the form which will be brought by you to the ceremony. The celebrant, the two witnesses and the couple sign it after the exchange of vows.

It is then your responsibility to send this form back to the Registry Office where it provides a validation of the wedding.
